What seemed to be another mundane and ordinary evening on Broadway hauling my drum equipment through the crowds of clamoring tourist was unknowingly about to change my life in the best way possible. The band was set and ready to start for a late shift at Nudies Honky Tonk, like we did every Saturday, but the stage was set for a different show that night! In the middle of our set my eyes couldn’t help but gravitate to a specific girl who was in the crowd that night. She was gorgeous and her fun loving, playful spirit captured my attention the entire evening. She was the star of the show. I couldn’t wait to finish the set so I could hopefully make an attempt at meeting her or possibly buy her a drink but it seemed like I wasn’t going to get that chance. She began to gather her things to leave and I was trapped behind the drum kit with a show to finish. I thought she would disappear into the night never to be seen again, but as she was leaving she waved goodbye to Beau (my close friend and vocalist of the band). I felt a glimmer of hope! Maybe a faint connection to the girl of my dreams! After the show I asked him “who was that girl at the bar?” And the first description I ever got of my future wife was “she’s insane dude, run for your life!” ….jk! He said “that’s Penny, she’s a girl you marry, not fool around with.” Some of the best advice anyone’s ever given me! I had a name and an instagram handle, my work was cut out for me! I “dropped it in the DM’s” as the kids say today and was promptly ignored… A few surface level conversations back and forth and I figured she wasn’t interested. But then, out of the blue she started up a conversation with me again over Instagram. I quickly took the opportunity to ask her out and get to know her the old fashioned way… in person. Our first date was at a Mexican food joint in Nashville (she knows the way to my heart.) We talked for hours and the night flew by! I knew when I left that she was special and I needed her in my life. We’ve been on many dates since that night and the feeling has stayed the same. This is the person I want to be around always. This is the person I want to split a large guacamole and bean dip with forever. So I guess the moral of the story is rock n roll and Mexican food will never lead you astray! We are so excited to share our special day with everyone and raise a margarita to a lifetime of happiness!
